Locking & Sealing
High temperature ND Patch Hi-Temp is a pre-applied nylon coating which is fused to the internal or external threads of a fastener, providing inert pressure against the threads of the mating part. It is dry to the touch and coated parts are ready for use right out of the box. Unlike reactive thread lockers, ND Patch Hi-Temp performs immediately upon assembly, without any curing time.
When assembled with a mating part, ND Patch Hi- Temp is compressed. The engineered plastic resists this compression and acts like a wedge, increasing the metal to metal contact 180° opposite the material. This mechanical force creates a strong, yet fully adjustable, lock which will not weaken, even under extreme vibration. ND Patch Hi-Temp is commonly known as a prevailing torque type self-locking fastener.
ND Patch Hi- Temp is normally positioned one to three threads back from the end of the fastener to assure ease of starting. The normal coating length of ND Patch is four to six threads. Patch location and coating length can be altered for specific applications.
As with all of our ND-Applied products, we can apply the material to your fasteners at any one of our regional service centers, or we can supply you with fasteners already coated with ND Patch Hi-Temp.
FEATURES:
Resists Heat & Cold: ND Patch Hi-Temp maintains its torque performance through temperatures as low as -70° F (-57° C) to as high as 500° F (260° C).
Chemical Resistant: ND Patch Hi-Temp will not dry, shrink, or lose resiliency when exposed to commercial solvents, alcohol, gasoline, oil, caustic soda, jet fuel, etc.
Reusable: Fasteners coated with ND Patch Hi-Temp can be repeatedly installed and removed without damage to threads. It is particularly resistant to deformation, which makes it ideal for reuse.
Saves Money: Use of ND Patch Hi-Temp eliminates the need for costly lock washers, cotter pins, or castellated nuts. You get a close fit without the costs involved in obtaining close tolerances. Moreover, ND Patch Hi- Temp is less expensive than applying bottled thread locking compounds at the point of assembly.
